I am the founder of btrue&well, nice to meet you! I named my company btrue&well because I believe all positive change starts with being true to you! I am also an Inspirational Speaker who is passionate about sharing my story to help others realize how powerful our authenticity can be.
Check out my story below!
If I am being honest, I always thought 'being well' was being fit, eating a certain way and looking a certain way. For me, most of my adult life I did just that. I exercised, ate right, and did everything else I thought I was supposed to do. The problem was, that by my late 20's I found myself to be very unwell and not happy. I also suddenly developed all of these conditions, anxiety, fibromyalgia, costochondritis, and TMJ. At first, I really wasn't so clear on what I needed to do or change, but it seemed to be much bigger than what I was putting on my plate and my exercise routine.
I had a very successful career as a Marketing Manager. I lived in a cute apartment in New York City. I also have most supportive friends and family. In addition, I had an exciting dating life where I met a lot of wonderful people.
Despite having what most would consider a pretty good life, I was miserable. It was almost as if I built it for someone else. I remember at this time asking my grandma for some advice, because I was lost. (Little me & Grandma pictured!) I asked her what she felt the key to life was. Her answer was pretty simple, however, it had a large impact on me. She said, "Carli, just be true to who you are." In that moment, I knew, I had not been true to who I was for long time, or maybe ever.
I started journaling, trying to observe myself in every situation and around everyone I came across. I wanted to understand how all situations made me feel emotionally, mentally, and physically. I learned quite a lot by doing this. My job was unfulfilling. I had unhealthy boundaries with friends. The city environment was causing me stress and anxiety. I also realized that most hobbies and some interests maybe weren't even mine, but that of the people around me.
Now that I had an idea of what was no longer working, I needed to start making some changes because honestly, I deserved to be happy (we all do). I also believed that by listening to my inner voice, my authentic self, I could make positive change to improve my overall wellness. Let's be real though, leaving the life I built, the stability and the persona of this person I created was not going to be easy. The risks and sacrifices would be large, but it had to be done.
I started small, creating some new boundaries and refocusing my attention on myself. I left my job, enrolled in school to become a coach, and started to consider where I'd want to live. Of course, right when I decided to start making changes, life had other plans. Two mystery illnesses, two traumatic plane rides, terrible dating experiences, and more. The years of this transition were the worst of my life. Don't be fooled, working on yourself while trying to balance life is messy and hard.
During the change and stress period which was about 5 years, I learned so much. As hard as it was, I regret nothing. I am who I am today because of it and I now love who I've become and the new life I built. Every aspect is aligned to who I truly am. I now live in Florida (not a city girl anymore!). I developed a strong spiritual practice and great strategies to navigate change and manage stress. I cured both of my mystery illnesses on my own after seeing numerous medical professionals who were unable to find a diagnoses nor a cure. Even better, a byproduct of relearning myself, and listening to my inner voice has caused my TMJ, costochondritis and fibromyalgia to greatly improve. I now absolutely love my job as a coach and speaker. I want to help as many people as I can to not only hear their inner voice, but listen to it, to make incredible positive change.
Carli speaks about authenticity. Specifically, on how influence can impact our authenticity, which can ultimately impact our health & wellness. Carli takes the audience on a journey with her, by asking the questions we don't usually ask, as she also shares parts of her story. She guides the audience to see a new perspective on how hard it can be to stay true to ourselves in a world full of influence. The audience will start to feel just how powerful our authenticity can be, and will learn Carlis 3-step approach to tapping into it, which has helped her transform her entire life.
I help clients tap into their inner voice (their authenticity), to make positive changes that bring more joy and fulfillment into their lives. I have learned first hand when we make changes that align to what is true to ourselves, we are able to trust with ease that the outcome will be better than our current reality. However, any change whether big or small can be hard. I work to get my clients to trust their own intuition of what works for them, whether it be something small, such as a diet change, or larger like a career change. I support clients each step of the way as they tackle something new.
